Minor change to the layout. I didn't like the background so I took it out. im just going to leave it like this. It's nice and simple looking.
Orisinal is really one of the best flash designers I've ever seen. Go to the site and scroll down to the "Experiments" section.

alright
alright, I think my best choice is to try to get 6.001 right now and not take 18.06.
(thats Comp Sci first course and linear algebra, respectively for those not at MIT)

[edit 8.29.02] my dad is not on crack. he just needs to listen to me more carefully. he apparently thought HASS courses were only 6 units. And totally forgot about my Frosh seminar.
my dad is on crack
He sends me an email with this:
You probably will take 8.01/8.012/8/01X, HASS-D, possibly 5.111, and 24
other units. What do you have in mind? It may be a good idea to take
6.001 and 9 other units of something. Mommy thinks you may not want to
take 18.06 in this pass/no-record first semester.
First of all the Frosh Credit limit at MIT is 54 units. Most classes are 12 units. That means 4 classes and then you have 6 units left. Well, then I have physics (or 8.01) which is 12. Then, a HASS (which is humanities), total is now 24. Then, add 5.111 (or Chem) to get 36. I have a frosh seminar (see later in this post) which is only 6 units. I'm at 42 units meaning only 12 units left, not 24. When he was here I told him about classes being 12 units but apparently he had short term memory loss or something and apparently calculated everything based on 9 unit courses.
In any case, I'm not going to take 5 courses plus as seminar in my first term. Also, 6.001 (or first comp sci class) is special and is 15 units so I cant take that, unless I get special approval to go over the credit limit.
Here's my current plan:
8.01X (Physics with extra labs)
21L.011 (The Film Experience, for HASS)
5.111 (Chem)
18.06 (Linear Algebra)
16.A45 (The Physics of Racing, my seminar class)
I want to take the 6.001 so I might be able to get approved. Then I could either drop 18.06 or 5.11 and take that second term.
My seminar class is really cool. Its Physics of Racing. I've talked about it before but we met the advisor for lunch today. This class is the best. No homework, meet once a week, learn about racing, build RC cars, build an actual race car, and when theirs extra time, they got funding to buy a PS2 with all the racing games out for that with two steering wheel/pedal controllers, so we can do "simulations" of races. (thats probably the best class that can ever occur).

I'm at MIT. I think its finally starting to hit me that I'm going to college. I think its the dorm room and being in a new place and knowing that I won't be going back in a few days. Its sort of weird.
I got Baker house but unlike the double I thought it would be. Its actually a triple that got changed into a quad. Its a good thing we get to enter the room lottery in a few weeks. I really hope I get switched to at least a triple (really want a double thought). At least next year, if I don't pledge a frat, I'll be able to get a single most likely.
gtg more stuff later.
I got my comp set up but I don't have an ethernet cable yet (they give out free ones on Monday). So, I'm using a computer cluster right now. Its sort of weird. My comp keeps crashing. It seems slow sometimes, guess its just not running as smooth as my old 266mhz machine with win98.

well, good luck to all those berkeley-bound people.
now it seems sort of forboding for all of us heading off, so hopefully we feel like a fool to believe or that it is the end of my beginning and hopefully never say "i cant do it" because in the end we'll find that "i like being here". (here being the place you are at, yeah)

my dad restricted my computer usage to before noon starting today (look i have about 15 minutes left).
just then he walks into my room. and says "wow youre up early" probably assuming that i woke up so i could have computer time. hahahaha. it was 11:37. apparently, the clock on his room stopped and he didnt sleep well so he thought that time was reasonable. hahahaha.
oh yeah, it my dads birthday so Happy Birthday, Dad

new layout
second major layout of this blog. too bad no one reads this anymore. i guess its understandable because i was gone for two weeks and didnt post anything. and its summer and everyone else is gone too. but if you do see it, i hope you like it. it took forever to get right. but theres probably still a few glitches. theres a few minor adjustments that i need to make. specifically though, does anyone know how to keep text fixed with the background so when someone scrolls i can keep the left column (with counter and links) viewable at all times? if you want to find the links, there on a new page (see the menu under the blogger button on the left). the chatter and webgroups are at the bottom of this column. thats about it. hope you like it.

overheard at MIT:
"Would you tell me, please, where I ought to go from here?" began Alice.
"That depends a great deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where--" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.
"--so as long as I get somewhere," Alice added as an explaination.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "If you only walk long enough."
Alice felt that this could not be denied, so she tried another question.
"What sort of people live about here?"
"In that direction," the Cat said, waving its right paw around, "lives a Hatter; and in that direction," waving the other paw, "lives a March Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad."
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat, "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

back from china. It's damn hot there. Other than that, it was fun until I got sick. whee.
Cities: Beijing, Ji Nan, Qing Dao, Xi An, Su Zhou, Hang Zhou, Shanghai.
Sites: Great Wall, Forbidden City, Terra Cotta Warriors/Tomb of Qin Huang Di, Confusius Temple, Confusius Forest/Tomb, Tai Mountain, Tomb of Tang Dynasty Emperors Temple of Yue Fei, a bunch of misc. gardens, temples, and pagodas, lots of tourist traps.
traffic is crazy there. they dont follow any rules. pedestrians just run into the street and cars dont stop. cars drive on the wrong side of the road. its legal to drive on the lines, so 3 lane roads become 5 lanes. that means that cars are speeding along 3-4 inches apart. imagine driving with a huge semi inches away with a wall a few inches away on the other side. surprisingly i only saw two car crashes. i guess i could say that anyone who drives here would never get anywhere driving there because they would be too scared to drive the way they do. and anyone from over there couldnt drive here because they would get killed doing crazy stuff.
there's salespeople everywhere there. and they all sell the same thing. you can look down a street and see 20-30 of the same booth. then you get mobbed by people selling the same thing. like fake rolexes for a dollar. or fans. or scarves. or postcards. etc. at one point there was about 10 people trying to sell me cheap fake terra cotta miniatures. the instant it started raining. all the salespeople put there stuff away and took out umbrellas and rain parkas, every single one of them. hahaha.
it was fun being taller than everyone else, usually a head taller. for the whole two weeks i was there, there was only 3-4 people taller than me and they were all caucasian tourists. back in the US, theres always a few people taller than me. like Ben (like an inch or so) or Rod (much taller than me).
