Back in SD again after coming back from Las Vegas.
More fun that last time. You could almost say that the amount of fun you have in Vegas is directly proportional to the amount of money you spend. Exception being if you gamble and lose a ton of money.
Raided the buffets, but new rule: even if you can, it's still a bad idea to eat more than one buffets a day. The Monte Carlo buffet is definitely the best in Las Vegas. Their dessert bar is insane.
Saw the Blue Man Group at Luxor. They were awesome. The plumbing-internet analogy was great and I particularly liked when they did the "if you could see sound" part. It would have been more awesome if some idiot hadn't hit me a bunch of times while doing some dumb dance with his tissue paper ribbons at the end of the show; the fucker didn't even apologize, he just ran off before I got the chance to rip his paper and some other stuff a little more harse than that.
Then went to the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort the next day. First time skiing for me. It was fun. Stayed on the easy hill all day. My boots were a little tight, so I have mild bruising on my shins. That's ok, I've hurt myself worse than that before.

T minus 1 hour. Until I begin my long ass trip home.
It feels weird not to have work to do. It's almost like I can't play unless I have work that I'm procrastinating from. It should be the other way around, but it almost seems not as fun to play if you don't have work to escape from. There's no pressure, no need to have fun before work crashes the party and the police shut it down.
I'm out of here. But in the back of my mind, I know I'll be back soon. Back to Hell soon...

It's a good sign that you're tired when you fall asleep at the computer while playing a violent video game.
In other news, my fridge is a freezer. It looks like a dinky old piece of trash dorm fridge. Yet, if I turn the setting up (ie. to keep the ice cream from last night study break cold) everything freezes. I have frozen milk, frozen peanut butter, frozen fried rice, frozen Nalgene bottle of water, frozen packet of ketchup.

I'm a Gator-hator. But who isn't.
The dumb program pops up loads of ads while claiming to providing the service of storing username/password combos for easier internet surfing. I mean, IE already has a feature that does that, who needs third party software. Plus, it's such a bad idea to have auto-logins for anything cause anyone could log in it if they are on your computer. And the program could easily be sending the a list of your passwords back the the company.
Then they don't provide an uninstall and it's very hard to delete cause they stick files/copies at different locations of your file system. You could get Gator premium or some dumb crap like that. But that's like a cleaning service trashing people's houses then getting them to pay for cleaning.
I disabled it with Ad-Aware. But now, it's setting off my virus scan which can detect the remains but cannot get rid of it. So every once in a while my laptop briefly freezes cause it takes 100% CPU usage to try to get rid of it.
I can't believe it somehow piggybacked of some other program onto my laptop. Even though I chose custom install and unclicked the Gator option while installing my xvid codec, it still installed itself. That is invasion of privacy if I ever saw.
Just go away, gator, no one likes you.

yo listen up here's a story
about a little guy that lives in a blue world
and all day and all night and everything he sees
is just blue like him inside and outside
blue his house with a blue little window
and a blue corvette
and everything is blue for him and hisself
and everybody around
cos he ain't got nobody to listen to
i'm blue da ba dee da ba die
i'm blue if I was green I would die. I can't believe I used green desktops and my custom green Windows color scheme for the entire semester. Back to blue, the first color scheme I perfected.

Not as bad as being a Valentine's Day baby. Everyone's too concerned with themselves and their lovelife to rememer. And when they do, it's last minute extra Valentine's cards converted to bday cards.
Alright, it's not that bad being born the day after Valentine's. But yes, the Valentine's card conversion has actually happened to me.

President Bush announced that he supported the creation of a do-no-email list similar to the current do-not-call list.
This is exactly why you need to
1. go to google
2. type "Miserable Failure"
3. click the "I feel lucky" button
The big difference in the two is phone calls cost the caller money, but spam is basically free for the sender. Phone calls are more easily traced. It's much harder to set up a phone line than an email account.
Some hacker just needs to break into the system and they would have a huge list of emails that people definitely use enough to care to want to block spam from. Sell it to some marketing firm in another country. Couldn't do the same with a phone number list. Cause calls from out of country cost even more than in the US.
In other news, Sinfest's Eastern Dragon God character is so awesome. I love it when he's in the comic. The current story arc is great. Start.

Got emailed from aretwriteon randomly. Then, got inspired to look at weblogging history.
I used to and still do, consider that I've been blogging for quite a long time compared to most bloggers. But then there's always Scripting News.
CRemo gets credit for bringing me into the blogging world. FalconFlak and James and David get partial responsibility. Now all three are out of operation.

A panda walks into a restaurant. He orders some bamboo shoots. After eating, he gets up, shoots the waiter, and walks out the door. The manager asks him why he shot the waiter. The panda says, "It's what pandas do. Look it up in a dictionary." The manager looks up "Panda" and it reads "Eats shoots and leaves."
One of my favorite jokes, but obviously not the most favorite.
This image from b3ta reminded me of it. Frea-king hilarious.

In other news, "howard stern engagement chicken" is giving me a lot of hits. I don't even know what that means. I get referred on some messed up web searches.

We got so much snow that the Tennis Bubble popped again.
I put up a bunch of pictures of the snow from my picture phone. Weather was so nice today. Lots of pretty white snow on the ground. Big blue sky. Nice bright sun.

Rock!
Took two second off my Minesweeper Expert No Flags score. 100 seconds.
But I've been getting mad speed on some games. But I just can't finish it, I always do some stupid slip or mistake when I'm nearly done. Should get a sub-hundred score soon.
Ended up going to the Baker Formal after all. It was pretty good cause lots of frosh that hadn't been tainted by formals past showed up and seemed to have a good time. Got a Maxim calender from the drunk santa. That was pretty cool.

Baker Formal/Holiday Party tonight.
It's in Baker D. It's not so much a formal as it is another reason for people to get drunk. And yeah, Baker is providing the alcohol. And yeah, we could get in trouble for that. And yeah, I'm on Judcomm and I'm supposed to keep people from doing things that could get Baker in trouble (ie. announce it on the internet).
And yeah, I don't really care. Once again I went to the setup party. And now I look back and see that I worked until around 7AM setting it up last year. And I put up the huge freshman chimney myself. It's really not worth it. No one goes and it's in Baker D.

This is what happens when you get out of bed too before you're rested.

Yes, time to talk about minesweeper again...
I found this great site that may help you catch up to my times. Minesweepers.org
Times:
Beginner: 5
Intermediate: 25 improved
Expert: 95
Expert (no flags): 102
Anyway, I sent the following No Flags Theory to the guy who made the site. Uses some terms that he defined on his site, so read that first if you're actually interested about this as me.
Someone introduced me to a variation in which you play without the use of flags. You basically need to remember where the flags are (ie. no visual guides to help you "partial determine"). I thought that I would never have fast times. In fact, I didn't think an expert game could be done this way since the person that introduced me had not completed an Expert game in this way.
However, I did complete a game and my best time doing it this way is 102. My theory is that with practice, this way is potentially faster.
First, clicking to mark a mine with a flag takes a click so you don't really save that many clicks using a double-button.
Second, when using flags, you need to think about what tiles are mines (so you can flag them) and what is not (so you can click). Without flags, you get to only think about what can be uncovered. When I return to playing with flags, I've found that placing flags is "inverted" in a way. Plus, I can't even count the times that I meant to flag but I accidentally cleared.
Just a theory. But it has allowed me to figure out a lot of new and more complicated "partial determinations" for one.
